Protivore

Protivore is an alternative protein startup specializing in sustainable, plant-based, high-protein food products. A subsidiary of Base’P, a pioneering food processing company, Protivore delivers soy-free, preservative-free, and additive-free offerings that mimic the taste and texture of meat. With a strong emphasis on nutrition and taste, the brand caters to a diverse audience, including vegans, vegetarians, and flexitarians.


Become was entrusted with building Protivore’s brand identity, including naming, visual identity, and event experience design. Our sprint-based approach ensured an agile, impactful brand rollout, creating a strong market presence within a short timeframe.

Our goal was to craft a compelling brand identity that:

  • Established Protivore as a future-proof, scalable, and memorable brand.
  • Positioned it beyond the niche vegan market, making it accessible to a broader audience.
  • Delivered a playful yet mature visual identity reflecting the brand’s essence of nourishment and mindful choices.
  • Created a standout exhibition experience at StartupTN to drive brand visibility and engagement.

Striking the Right Balance

Protivore needed to appeal to health-conscious consumers while maintaining an inviting and enjoyable brand personality. The challenge was to merge an organic, handcrafted feel with a bold and contemporary aesthetic.

Moving Beyond Conventional Vegan Branding

Most plant-based brands rely on stereotypical green and natural tones. We wanted Protivore to break the mold by embracing a playful, vibrant palette while retaining a sense of nourishment and conscious consumption.

Rapid Execution for Event Readiness

With StartupTN approaching fast, we had to design an engaging exhibition space, from standees to brochures, ensuring that the brand stood out in a crowded startup showcase.

Brand Naming

Our structured approach—research, word mapping, ideation, and validation—led to the name Protivore, derived from "protein" and "vore" (as in carnivore/herbivore). By omitting the “e” in “protein,” we crafted a name that signifies inclusivity for all protein consumers, regardless of dietary preference.

Beyond its linguistic clarity, "vore" implies voraciousness—a reflection of indulgence without guilt. The name resonated well with the audience, emphasizing nutrition and taste over restrictive diet ideologies. Additionally, its uniqueness ensured seamless domain and trademark availability, making it a future-ready brand name.

Brand Logo

Protivore’s logo embodies choice and mindful consumption through the clever emphasis on "OR" within the wordmark. The word “or” represents the decision-making process, nudging consumers toward healthier, more sustainable options.

The typography balances playfulness with density, creating a sense of abundance and richness—aligning perfectly with Protivore’s brand promise. Through dynamic yet simple design elements, the logo reflects the brand’s commitment to nourishing, mindful, and delightful eating experiences.

Brand Visual Language

Moving away from traditional green palettes, we crafted a vibrant and engaging visual identity with earthy orange and brown tones complemented by energetic pops of aqua, pink, and yellow.

Typography played a crucial role—pairing a hand-drawn font with playful irregularities for character, alongside a geometric sans-serif for readability. This blend ensured a visual identity that was both expressive and functional. The result was a brand that exuded warmth, joy, and approachability while staying rooted in authenticity.

At StartupTN, a major startup showcase in Tamil Nadu, Protivore needed a booth that commanded attention. Despite time constraints, our sprint-based approach enabled the execution of a compelling stall design that effectively conveyed Protivore’s uniqueness.

We designed:

  • Standees & Banners that visually captured Protivore’s identity.
  • A Cohesive Booth Layout that encouraged interaction.
  • Brochures & Collaterals that educated visitors about Protivore’s mission and offerings.

The stall became a crowd-puller, leaving a lasting impact on potential customers, entrepreneurs, and investors alike.

To reinforce brand consistency, we extended Protivore’s visual identity across brochures and corporate stationery. The collaterals featured bold typography, vibrant accents, and concise storytelling, ensuring an engaging yet informative brand experience for potential stakeholders.

Result

Protivore’s strong brand identity played a pivotal role in securing funding and accelerating its growth trajectory. Key outcomes include:

  • The brand name alone secured a ₹5 lakh grant.
  • The brand identity resonated with both consumers and investors, making it a scalable and franchise-ready entity.
  • A standout presence at StartupTN, generating significant interest from potential partners and customers.
  • Increasing traction in key markets, with rising demand from Coimbatore, Chennai, and inquiries from Madurai and Tirunelveli.

With an expanding team and growing investor interest, Protivore is set to redefine the plant-based snacking industry, offering nutritious, delicious, and inclusive protein alternatives for all.
